Dear Alan,
Trust you are still there and not moved on to pastures newer/greener.
As before many thanks for the latest modified blades which you supplied at the end of last season. The seals are a great success, we dismantled the blades in Port St Louis du Rhone a few days ago and they were still well filled with grease despite 250+ hours on the engine and five months sailing in the Med. We picked the boat up in Sousaki just west of Athens in late May and moved through the Aegean to Italy, Corsica, and then the south of France. Everything on the prop functioned perfectly and, I presume thanks to the new seals, we had no reluctance feathering even at the end of the season and with the prop quite heavily fouled with calcium growth.
As I said previously we shall be bringing Carmania up through the French canals in 2010 and I intend to refit the original hydrodynamic shovel as we will be taking on supermarket trolleys and the like!! At the end we shall be selling Carmania as I really do not fancy UK sailing after 6 years of warm water sailing so if you know anyone who wants a Kiwiprop with a Westerly Riviera attached!!
Again many thanks for all your assistance over the years and I wish you all success for the future!!
In summary : 11547 miles, 2047 hours, 0 failures!
Best regards,
Edward
